We just received our February 2005 issue of the
Powick Parish News through our letterbox. James Bullett, the editor, kindly ran our "May We Have Your Support?" advertisement on page 21.
I was interested to read Tom Wells' comments about our planning application. He writes, "I have to say that in all my ten years as District Councillor, this has to be the most unusual application I have ever come across."
Councillor Wells does not mention that I contacted him in mid-October, 2003 because I knew this application would be out of the ordinary. I wanted his opinion on whether he thought a green burial ground would be an asset to the local community. He kindly met me at Lord's Wood on November 14, 2003, and he and I (and his dog) walked through most of the woods as I outlined the plans for our proposed project.
My e-mail to our planning consultant, sent the afternoon of my meeting with Councillor Wells, says in part:
Quote:
I met today with Tom Wells, our local councilor (MHDC). He and I walked through Lord's Wood. He'd spoken with the planning people this morning, and they indicated (according to Tom) that their only concern was "environmental." I thought he meant bluebells and all that stuff, but he said, "no, no, pollution from bodies into the water supply."
